What this model offers

The 40180HB is Cutech’s eight-inch coated-aluminum-table model. Its current specification lists 120V/10A power, 16 two-sided tungsten-carbide inserts, a 34-inch table extending to 51 inches, a 19-5/8-by-4-3/8-inch fence, four- and 2-1/2-inch dust connections and 55.1 pounds net weight. The same-width 40180HI changes the table material, extends to 54 inches, uses a 24-inch fence and lists 65.5 pounds. A shortened eight-inch Cutech description is therefore not enough to identify the package.

Build the decision around your projects

This model belongs on a shortlist when eight-inch face capacity is valuable but the buyer wants to investigate the coated-table configuration separately from heavier cast iron alternatives. Review how often the machine will be moved and where it will operate. The word benchtop does not mean a tool can be placed on any available surface. Decide how it will be mounted, where incoming stock will sit and how prepared stock reaches the next operation before selecting a package based on its shipping weight.

Compare the right alternatives

Compare the HB directly with the HI, recording table material, extended support span and included fence. Those are package differences that a generic width comparison would miss. Then compare another eight-inch model with its own supplied cutter material clearly labeled. Cutech’s current page calls these inserts carbide, while some competing standard packages use HSS. Neither the table coating nor the cutter material alone proves that one machine will outperform another on your wood; evaluate the complete documented configuration.

The HB’s 51-inch working arrangement

Use the HB measurements when planning a station: a 34-inch base span, 51-inch extended support and 19-5/8-inch fence. Substituting the HI’s dimensions can lead to a poorly fitted layout. Add the board’s approach and exit, standing room and required supports to those measurements. Eight-inch face capacity and extension span answer different questions, and neither establishes a maximum safe board length.

Coated aluminum tables call for the correct care routine, but do not remove the need for secure mounting. Decide whether the machine lives on the bench or must be brought from storage, then arrange a clear working surface and access to controls. On a cart, check the milling position separately from parking. Plan the four-inch or smaller dust connection so its hose does not interfere with stock movement.

Ownership and replacement parts

Table-care products should suit the coated surface. Do not automatically adopt an abrasive rust-removal method intended for bare cast iron. Keep the exact model and insert reference with your order, and verify compatible replacements through the manufacturer. The shared HB/HI manual includes variant-specific details, so a drawing or accessory shown in the document may not apply identically to both machines. Make a receiving checklist from the selected variant’s inventory rather than assuming the more expensive package’s fittings are included.

Checks before you order

The official HB specification gives 51 inches of extended support, versus 54 inches for the HI in the shared manual. The HB fence is 19-5/8 inches; the HI fence is 24 inches. Minimum stock dimensions were not confirmed, so those fields remain empty. Extension span is not a safe board-length limit.

Check HB on the order and delivered label, with the correct fence, guard, supports and dust fittings; the shared HB/HI manual can otherwise obscure package differences. Retain the manual and seller’s damage, missing-part and return instructions. The complete cost should include approved carbide replacements, surface-care supplies, measuring tools, mounting and extraction appropriate to the planned station.
